THE SIDE DISH

Your BBQ Association is growing again; and that is a good thing! We presently have 20 Business Members stretching from Llano to Gonzales to Taylor. Our goal is to bring on board 10 – 20 new members by this summer.

The Association has had a website since October 2004, but only a pasted-up home page was available for viewing. . . until recently! We’re excited to announce that the professionals at Seedling.online are currently expanding our website. We would like to have a photo or logo from each of the Business Members so we can add them to the Home page and display them in a rotating manner. Please email them to: info@ctbbqa.org. Please also send us your web addresses so we can link to them.

Other items found on the site will be our Bylaws (so you can see how we will be governed), information about the Steering committee, Association contact information, the mission statement, the Side Dish, news about the Barbecue Festival, and more!

In regards to the Festival, the spotlight this year will be on sausage. Sausage-making is a Central Texas tradition; and many of you handcraft your own variety. The Association is very excited about this focus and believes that this will be of great interest to the media and the general public. Luke will be calling the Business Members soon to discuss your interest in the festival, and to see what suggestions you have for making this a success event.

We are pleased to announce that ‘Meals on Wheels and More’ has been selected as our charity partner. In addition to feeding the homebound in Austin, they have outreach programs which go beyond Austin, reaching into the Central Texas region. They are always in need of volunteers to help with deliveries, and we hope to give them good exposure.

Finally, we are very excited about the Austin Chronicle partnering with us for the Festival. They have been very supportive of the Association and are deeply committed to spreading the Barbecue Word. We are working on other sponsorships as well, but remain open to your suggestions in this area.

Enjoy our great Spring. Go for a drive. Check out the wildflowers, and EAT BARBECUE!!!
